Night of Power

The message of Muhammad was not accepted overnight. A few at first began to believe what he conveyed regarding the religion of Islam. Gradually as he and his followers began to have success more adherents came into Islam. Eventually it was young and old, male and female who became believers. After some years it was understood that those who had made the greatest sacrifices and had achieved notable good works would in eternity be rewarded by God. Some of the old people recently converted to Islam came to the Prophet and asked ‘Is it true we will be rewarded only by the works we contribute for God.’ Muhammad said you have heard correctly. One of them replied we are old and have contributed little and we have little time left so will have little chance to make much difference and little to look forward to after death.’ Muhammad said do not come to despair so quickly. Persist , but return to me in a certain number of days. With that the group departed. Some days passed and it turned out that Muhammad caught sight of them and said, ‘I have received a message to convey to you.’ The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever prays on Laylatul Qadr out of faith and sincerity, shall have all their past sins forgiven,” it has been revealed to me that “The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months”. Not long after that it was recognized that a thousand months is a full and long life. Some of the old among them departed and could be seen tears on their cheeks with the mercy of Allah filling their hearts, knowing that they had received eternal rewards and that a message from Allah had came for them. Therefore Muhammad said, “Seek it in the last ten days of Ramadan, on the odd numbered nights.”

First Commandment

There are very few first original books about religion. But even with few the Bible by itself is around 1,400 pages. And in a way that means two things. First, that explains why hardly anyone reads it because it looks practically like an encyclopedia, especially to anyone who is not even sure how much they are interested. Then second, it would seem that practically everything should be explained in something that long. But that has not be the case either since a lot of people disagree on many things about it.
So I wondered where should explanations start if any was needed and what would it take to adequately comment on just one. Even before the first commandment there are quite a few ideas that people discuss with some agreement and some disagreement. However, the first commandment, although rather brief, warrants an explanation, but perhaps because it is brief its full implications are practically never mentioned and instead almost always ignored.
The first commandment states, ‘I am the LORD thy God ,You shall have … No other gods before me, Thou shalt not make any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God.’ Regarding making images, that should not be too confusing; there are comments in lots of places, but the commandment wraps up by concluding, ‘the LORD thy God is a jealous God.’ There’s only a few words there to be understood, ‘God’ and ‘jealous’ Well, since God is infinite it some ways you actually can’t completely understand everything about God. But by just keeping that in mind you can still focus on the description that points out that the God is a ‘jealous God.’ Again, God is most often understood as extreme or total in a unique way so the implication might be that its reasonable to believe this jealous attitude could extend in someway everywhere. Since God has no bounders His notion of jealousy would not be fenced in or just restricted by any individual or group of people coming to their own conclusion.
When human beings are considered jealous it might include being resentful, selfish, desirous, covetous along perhaps with some other things. These could seem a little superficial when associated to God so another definition, ‘being protective or vigilant of one’s rights or possessions’ would seem more appropriate relating to God. Since God possesses everything the commandment points out God expects His ownership to be recognized and anything a creature or a human being does is by permission and a limited induration and likely other ways as well. So in the case of human beings any achievements should (likely must) be in some degree acknowledged as a grant or loan by God and credit to whatever extend God decides is due and remains with God.
And here is where the commandment is vastly overlooked. There are so many fields of human endeavor it would be close to pointless to list them all. However all the ‘discoveries’, inventions, developments, creative success depends on the permission and granting of abilities originating from God. Obviously giant libraries exist around the world for the purpose of documenting these activities and praising the achievements of the human beings who are given credit for countless accomplishments. So whether it would be medicine or music, physics or fantasy, architecture or mathematics God is casually overlooked and only on the rarest occasion perhaps mentioned as a second thought. In view of this practice one could conclude, and evidently mankind has concluded, that this is all fine and not that relevant in the scheme of things.
However, quite the opposite must be true since this is the first commandment not a rule buried among a number of others. It is also presented at the start of the nearly 1,400 pages of the Bible which follows. Nonetheless most of the time like the air we breath or the light which makes anything that can be seen visible its taken for granted, dismissed or ignored in the distractions that only seem relevant but mostly lead millions of spectators stumbling around in ultimately mindless circles congratulating themselves in their own exploits. And that can lead to the final empty breath and endless darkness.
When accustomed to the light, it can be a shocking surprise when the switch is thrown and suddenly, practically without warning, nothing is left but darkness. And yet there is the warning , ‘for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God ‘. So there is a reason it is in the beginning without excuse to be overlooked.

Covid-19 Response

When people stock up on cleaning products and toilet paper it seems to be that they are being cautious and preparing on how NOT to get the virus. That’s ok and its fine as long as you don’t catch it. But the real problem is doing all you can do IF YOU do catch it, because 100’s of thousands of people around the world and in this country are getting it and its adding up everyday.
The virus effects people in different ways. For a fair number of people it is not too bad. Those aren’t the people we have to worry about. The virus seems to get in through the nose and it may stay in the upper throat, mouth and nose. It may give you a bad headache, won’t feel like eating, will have little energy, may be much better in 5 to 7 days or may still take 10 days or more to feel much better.
When the problem gets worse is when the virus moves down into the lungs and invades the lower lungs. When the infection is wide spread it is that much harder for the immune system to catch up. Fluid in the lungs will likely case pneumonia and will contribute to a fatality since the immune system is overwhelmed.
If someone can get used to breathing only through the nose then the virus is less likely to be inhaled deeply and to immediately get into the lower areas of the mouth and throat. When only breathing through the nose there is a much better chance that the virus will be filtered or stopped in the nostrils or nasal cavity. It is also not a difficult thing to do to get used to ‘washing’ the nostrils gently with warm water a number of times during the day. Or rinsing the nose anytime you feel like a sneeze is coming on when possible. Sneezing is the result of something getting into the nose and attempting to get the cause out is always a good idea if possible.
This is not going to guarantee that some virus may not infect the person but even so once the immune system becomes activated this practice of clearing the nose can help in restricting the volume of virus and keeping it in a more manageable area.
Taking in much more fluid than you would normally do will help excrete the virus and assist the kidney and liver so that the toxins will dilute and hopefully prevent those potential organ failures. Mega doses of Vitamin C should be taken, typically up to or close to 10,000 mg daily depending on body weight.
Malaria drug hydroxychloroquine is being widely used by doctors to treat themselves and their nurses and staff and prescriptions may be available by asking. It is often used with z-pack which is a group of antibiotics for the purpose of preventing the invasion of a range of bacterial infections which may occur since the immune system is so weakened.
It may not be possible to enter a dry sauna but it is reported that being outside in the strongest and hottest direct sunlight assists the body and slows the increase of the virus. Here is one instance that being in a closed car where the temperature may reach 140 degrees could actually be helpful. But as you can conclude the intake of large amounts of water or other fluids is critical.
The body can stand a temperature of 107 but brain cells can and will die if not protected from this extreme fever.
A wet compress applied to the neck, base of the skull or scalp is a possible method to reduce the temperature here while the rest of the body continues to show a temperature of 104 to 107. These are extreme circumstances which nevertheless may be the difference in life and death situations.
Inversion tables are used for posture and a variety of spine issues but they allow gravity to be used to help clear the lungs when the head and shoulders are much lower than the rib cage. Mucus may be draining on a continuous basis and fluids cannot pool for hours over night or while the patient is lying for perhaps several days on end.
The corona virus seems to often persist for 2 full weeks and some nutrition is going to be needed even though it is likely the patient will have neither appetite, taste for, or desire for any food. Steamed white rice, as much honey as possible at any time, a few ounces of yogurt every day or so, and an egg every couple of days may be tolerated. Again fluid should be forced and a gallon of liquid such as diluted juice, spring water is not excessive over a 24 hour period.

A Declaration

‘There is no god but Allah.’ conveys such a simple though eternal idea that its other implications are for the most part likely lost. Fortunately the idea itself can be understood even by a ten year old. Taking each idea as it develops, the first two words declare that there is something which has existance. The phase points out that apart from nothing is a reality which is not illusion but is concrete and undeniable. Yet the next word negates this assumption and asserts the possibility of just the opposite. Including the word god and pausing there completes an accepted idea by atheists; ‘There is no god. .’ Once again within the sentence is a complete idea in itself, and once again it is followed by single word ‘but’ that potentially alters the entire point of everything that came previously. What might have followed could have been anything from a pair of gods to a particular host of gods or a specific family of gods. What in fact followed was the confirmation of a single definitive god thereby excluding the possibility of any and all others. As a complete single statement it is profoundly simple so the only reasonably valid response would be either emphatic rejection or full acceptance. It is hard to defend an argument that would suggest the intent here is uncertain or difficult to achieve an
understanding. Do ten year olds have intelligent questions? Yes they do. Do they face serious life challenges at that age? Again yes, and they can deal with clear factual statements and deserve straight-forward information allowing them to build their understanding from unambiguous ideas. So this statement is the eternal first door into the infinity of truth open to the young as well as any willing to enter through it.

Question 1 and 2

The question why were you born is not the same as the question why were you created. Since that is the case, one answer is not the same as the other. Why you were created by God involves a more complex answer but why you were born is simple enough so that its very simplicity makes in overlooked and subsequently mostly unknown. Why is any human-being born? The reason you were born is to come to the realization, that while you were previously dead for millions of years, life itself was and remains eternal and this is your chance to acquire that life by recognizing and gaining favor with its Originator.
Simple enough so far, But why were you created?  Before the creation of mankind, not only was the creation of the universe complete but life was granted existence at least 3.55 billion years ago. That is a pretty good length of time for God to have been apparently pleased with his activities. So why after such as extended length of time would God create something (mankind) which is unique or at least recognized as being significantly different than what He had been pleased with for those number of billions of years. Many of the earliest prophets stated that they were told by angels that time itself was running out and that the earth was already very aged. These statements were mostly ignored or dismissed and this idea declared by the prophets considered wrong. Generations of humans came and went and no evidence that time was running out was apparent. So this prophecy was for the most part ignored all together, although it was written down and still remains available for reference today
Just when the angels were created is open for conjecture; they might have been created before the tangible universe over 4 billion years ago. It could be argued that the angels came into existence before the creation of our universe since during the Days of Creation God apparently is having a conversation with beings other than Himself. Life on earth came about rather early on, before the rotation of the earth was fixed according to the record. So from the point of view of the angels the end of the world, although several thousand years away , would have seemed short compared to the several thousand million years that had been observed by those angels.
The living creatures on earth before man do not have the ability to understand the complexity of their own creation or the intellect behind it. Nor would they understand the end of it all. Mankind however can recognize the creative process and can understand the concepts of ‘beginning’ and ‘ending.’ Certainly it seems that mankind was created as the only life form in this world to have the potential of that understanding. Mankind then can bear witness to all of the prophesied events as they unfold and some of mankind will be instilled with eternal life and the responsibility to bear witness from this perspective for eternity. The early prophecies also state that the ‘end of time’ will come about only when the earth is holding as many ‘men’ as it can sustain. This vast multitude would understand, witness, and offer eternal testimony to the final chapter in God’s strategy to reveal the past and the wrap-up of this era, which the angels considered soon to come. And it is for that reason you were created.
